Two-day hike in Pirin - the best of the best for the season! Hambartash and Dyadoto (the Grandfather), Argirovo and Mitrevo lakes, Kornishki glacial valley, and the longest river in Pirin! A delight to the eye and solace for the soul!
This will be one of the rare occasions of this kind for human soul to soar and bask in happiness up in the Mountain! As usual we start at 7 a.m. in front of the Vassil Levski Stadium. We set off for a long drive to the remote village of Pirin. From there we promptly hike to the Pirin lodge where we're to spend the night. We take small backpacks for a hike in the valley of the Demirkapiyska river. We reach a glacial valley surrounded by the pointed ridges of the peaks of Kamenitsa, Kralev Dvor, Demirkapiyski Chukar, Dzhano, Chengelchal and Demirchal. We pass by Mitrevo and Argirovo lakes. These stunning spots are totally off the beaten track. At dusk we are back to the lodge, impatient for the big day!
Elevation gain/loss - up 700; down 700m. Total hike - 5h
We start the hike in the Demirkapiyska Valley. Alextrek will reveal one of its biggest secrets - taking you to its favourite peaks - Hambartash and Dyadoto (the Grandfather)! There is no easy way up, brace yourself for more than 2-hour uphill hike to the Kornishki col. But Pirin guards its secrets strictly - sweat pays off with happiness! Some 3 h after we leave the lodge, we're at the col and leave our backpacks to ascend the Dydoto peak. Its name, meaning the Grandfather, was given by two hikers in love with Pirin. Then we go back to the col and ascend Hambartash; its magic will either overwhelm you or it will be just another peak on your list.
By the end of the day, we are grateful to Pirin for letting us see its other side. Then in humbleness we go back home.
Elevation gain/loss - up 1100; down 1100m. Total hike - 7 h
